Vidya Balan’s ‘Kahaani’ declared a hit
After being appreciated for her performance in female-centric “Ishqiya”, “No One Killed Jessica” and “The Dirty Picture”, actress Vidya Balan carries forwards the legacy of hits with “Kahaani”, which has reportedly collected Rs.2.95 crore on its opening day.
Released Friday, the drama-thriller made at a shoestring budget of Rs.8 crore is receiving positive response from both the critics and audiences
“The film has opened very well. The collection in India on Friday was Rs. 2.95 crore and on Saturday it earned Rs. 4.5 crore. A full-pack show is expected on Sunday. The film will definitely survive for over a week,” Taran Adarsh told IANS.
In director Sujoy Ghosh’s Vidya is cast as a software programmer. She comes to Kolkata from London in search of her husband, who is the father of her unborn child.
Gautam Dutta, COO, PVR said that the film has superseded their expectation.
“The response we are getting for the film is phenomenal. There are families coming together to watch the movie. And since it is a women-centric film, there are group of females coming to watch the film. We are expecting a 80 percent occupancy all over India on weekend, which is something we did not expect. And the film should be able to do a good business,” Dutta told IANS.
It is being co-distributed by Pen India Pvt. Ltd, Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and Boundscript Motion Pictures Pvt. Ltd
” ‘Kahaani’ is a film that is made for serious and sensible cinegoers. Vidya’s performance is being appreciated by audience. The film is not entertaining like ‘The Dirty Picture’, that is why it has a niche audience. But it will not only recover its cost but also earn profits,” said Delhi based distributor Joginder Mahajan.
If the story and Viday’s charma are attracting audiences, distributor Sanjay Ghai of Mukta Arts Ltd says word of mouth is also helping the film a lot in gaining success.
“It is houseful in multiplexes and we are expecting collection of Rs.5 crore on Sunday. It is the word of mouth that is bringing people to the theaters,” Ghai said.
As no big releases are scheduled for next week, sop Ghai feels absence of biggies at the box office will also help “Kahaani” in strengthening its position at the ticket window.
“Since there is no big release next week, it is expected the movie will earn a good amount of profit,” he added.

Salman Khan’s family affair
It's the first time Salman Khan will be seen with his entire family in a print ad. The reason this coup has been possible is because of his personal line of clothing and watches - Being Human - which the actor launched a few years back.
Since his products have been duplicated and sold in India and abroad, the actor decided to take some action. The print campaign urges people to buy originals,as hundred per cent proceeds to go charity. After returning from Cuba post Ek Tha Tiger schedule, the actor went to Mehbood studios and posed for the ad with his family. It includes Salim Khan, Salma Khan, Helen, his sisters Arpita and Alvira also the Khan brothers and their wives.

The deal between producer Excel Entertainment and Reliance was finalised last week.
A source close to the production house informed Mumbai Mirror, "Rs 90 crore is a huge amount. Don 2 sold for Rs 80 crore and that was already an established franchise. This however, puts a lot of recovery pressure onTalaash."

Best Dressed Actresses in Bollywood
Kareena Kapoor:
Her thin frame, glowing skin and gorgeous smile make a haute canvas to showcase her personal style —breathtaking gowns, candy-coloured dresses and cute minis — as long as she's not overdoing the pout.
Anushka Sharma:
If you've got it, flaunt it, is probably what Miss Mile-Long Legs believes, and we love her for that. Those perfect pins look great in her figure-hugging minis and lacy jumpsuits. Anushka's style is just like her — fuss-free and athletic
Kangna Ranaut:
Always up for experimentation, Kangna is retro one day, modern the next, nautical the day after. From frilly baby doll dresses to Zeenat Aman rewinds, floral off-shoulders, shimmering gowns and trendy casuals, she bares it all brilliantly.
Dia Mirza:
Classy, elegant and effortless are words that come to mind when we think of Dia Mirza off-screen. Her personal style radar, thankfully, hasn't been marred by her box-office duds. In fact, she puts together a great ensemble every time.
Neha Dhupia:
It's difficult to pull off fashionable clothes on a broad-shouldered and big-boned frame. But Neha knows what suits her body so well that she manages to pull off skin-skimming gowns, short dresses, even shorts with élan.
Sonam Kapoor:
Fashion’s favourite new child incorporates the latest international runway trends in her own inimitable style like a dream. She flirts with fabric, colours and detailing like no other Bollywood actor has yet managed to.

Filmfare Awards 2012: Best & Worst Dressed Actresses
Neha Dhupia
The balloon sleeve blouse made the gown look extremely overwhelming; more so the morose maroon colour.
Kareena Kapoor
Kareena looked stunning in an au naturale Manish Malhotra sari, minimal make up and loose hair.
Priyanka Chopra
Priyanka wore a powder blue Ferragamo gown which she paired with a clutch, also from Ferragamo. The hair perfectly complemented the fluidity of the dress don’t you think?
Sridevi
Sridevi wore an uncomfortable looking steel grey gown to the Filmfare Awards 2012.
Deepika Padukone
It was definitely a sari soirée at the Filmfare Awards. Deepika looked lovely in this peach sari accentuated with a few bangles and earrings
Dia Mirza
Dia chose a stiffer look, but we think she ravished all the same with an elegant choice of rustic kundanjewellery.
Bipasha Basu
Going the goddess route, Bipasha could’ve done without the tacky gold head-band on the glittery gown which was gold enough!
Asin
The actress opted for a printed Stella McCartney Spring 2012 Gown for the Filmfare Awards. We feel the dress was meant for a taller more slender woman.

" Sad days for me” – Nargis Fakhri
American fashion model and actress Nargis Fakhri who made her debut with Ranbir Kapoor in Rockstar found it extremely difficult to live those many months while the film was being shot since the film’s producer and director Imtiaz Ali didn’t let her be in public eye so as to maintain a mystery around the leading lady. “I like being out there, exploring, meeting people, but being closely guarded was very difficult. Imagine, I had no family no friends, I was all alone and only working. Those days I would cry. It was an emotional struggle (whoosh),” she says with a sad face.
But then, Nargis had found friends in two people from the shooting unit – her leading man Ranbir Kapoor and director Imtiaz Ali. “There were only two people in my life and I got attached to them,” she says. “But now when I look back I appreciate the kind of life I led because it taught me to get to know myself and love myself,” she adds.
Besides being happy, spirited and energetic, Nargis can also be quite impulsive. “My agents working with me get nervous because I can be quite unpredictable. I often do something over the top. My mom laughs and says, where did you come from?” she laughs. And yes, we just witnessed her doing something totally over the top. She took a cardboard box, covered the head and face of a young man with it and autographed on it while squealing with joy like a little girl.
But yes, Nargis has her sad days and those days she chooses to stay away from people. “I have my sad days and I don’t want to give it to other people. I am sensitive to energy and when my energy is low or I am feeling sad I don’t want to give it to others. I stay alone,” she says.
And while dealing with her moods when in the company of her Rockstar co-star, she says, “On screen Ranbir and I had great chemistry. But we know each other’s energy in real life. I don’t think I am more sensitive to his energy but he has learnt that I am very sensitive. He asks me when I am feeling sad and I tell him and then he keeps his space. Similarly, when I find him moody I stay away. When you are working with people and you are connected, you can tell if something is wrong…you understand and feel for each other. And these are the people who are grounded, loving nurturing, human beings,” Nargis further says.
